Las Vegas Locals Getting Married!

By: Mercedes Sanchez

blogImage

Ji and Pedro Perez are two locals that decided to get married spontaneously on February 10th. The couple met at work, and it was love at first sight! As they were dating, they knew they were going to get married but weren't sure when. On February 10th, they decided to go get their marriage license, and on the way to the marriage license bureau, they just said, “let’s get married tonight!” Ji, had seen Chapel of the Flowers, and had always liked our look. So after they got their marriage license, they stopped by the chapel to see if there were any openings. Luckily there was! They chose to get married at 5:30 that afternoon. After they planned their ceremony, they immediately called all their friends and family to not only share the good news, but to also ask them to join them on their special day!

Right before Ji and Pedro were going to walk down the aisle, I asked them how they met, and they told me the same story that I have just shared with you all. Ji also told me that everyoneinside the chapel was still in shock, but they did not care, because they love being the spontaneous couple that they are!

It is really refreshing to see locals get married here at the chapel, as I am used to always having couples from a different state or country. I think it is nice to get married here if you are a local, because it makes it easier for your famliy and friends to attend your wedding!

Congratualtions Ji and Pedro! I wish you two only the best!

How many times do you renew your vows before the “I’m really married”?

For me, as many times as it takes to keep that spark alive, new and more meaningful than the last.

Did you know that in Germany, a wedding usually lasts three days? It begins with a civil ceremony; the next night is the big wedding party; and then on the third day, the religious ceremony happens.

blogImage

In Hessen, Germany, Beate and Manuel started their marriage journey by sharing their religious ceremony celebrating with family and friends.

blogImage

After six months of marriage and many hours of researching websites, they decided that a Las Vegas wedding at Chapel of the Flowers was the perfect place to celebrate their second ceremony, the civil ceremony.

Beate and Manuel Kilian put their own spin on this fascinating tradition, making this story a great one to tell.

blogImageOn Friday night, February 3, 2012, Beate and Manuel arrived at Chapel of the Flowers for their civil ceremony. The bride was dressed in an adorable short, white wedding dress, with her curly, bright cherry-red hair in an up-do adorned with a tiara. And, to complete the red theme, her arm was in a bright red cast! Beate offered the reason for breaking her arm: she was to play hockey.

This enthusiastic couple was ready to share this second ceremony with family and friends through our website broadcast. Their guests were able to complete their connection to the celebration by sending them a long stem rose with a message wishing them the best, to have fun at their second wedding and hoping that they will enjoy this ceremony twice as much as the first.

They certainly were a breath of fresh air with their joyous adventure-filled spirit.

Continuing their marriage journey, Beate and Manuel are already making plans for their third ceremony in the spring at a special place somewhere in the German mountains.

So many weddings!

So many wonderful couples to choose from a list of many!

Emma and Ian Partlett stood out among the couples that were married on Saturday, January 21, 2011.  They traveled from the United Kingdom with much anticipation for the perfect wedding day.

As their wedding time arrived the finicky Las Vegas weather decided to have a wild wind storm that downed traffic lights and grounded all air travel.  The high winds affected their limo travel time, causing Emma and Ian to have a late arrival to the chapel.  From the moment the couple arrived, they appealed to me with just how sweet they were along with their sense of humor. The couple had planned for a romantic helicopter ride over the city for them and their friends to enjoy. However, the winds don’t stop for romance, and the flight had to be rescheduled for the following day.

On a side note,  I just have to tell you how adorable Emma was in her fur jacket.

This marvellous couple took it all in stride, and was an absolute delight to be around and for me to be a part of their day. Their story is definitely one of the best wedding day stories to be told for a very long time.

Once Upon A Time

By: KassandraO

As a Wedding Coordinator here at Chapel of the Flowers, I have the opportunity to see couples' dreams come true every day. Everyone is so different, and they have so many different aspects to what will make "their day" the most perfect day. It is so wonderful to be a small part of so many people's lives! To make the best job in the whole world that much better, I was lucky enough to participate in a very special wedding of someone who is very important to me – my Mom!

blogImage

On Christmas morning, her now-husband, Lance, asked my sisters and me to have permission for my mother's hand. We willingly obliged, he instantly proposed, and the planning began! When my mom told me that she wanted to get married at Chapel of the Flowers, I was so happy and eager to get started on all of the details. It was fun sharing that time with her, and seeing what an excited bride she was. After going through a lot of the logistical details, she threw a curveball that I wasn't expecting...A THEME WEDDING!

blogImage

Ever since I was fairly young, many of my mom's friends have referred to her as Lady Di, after Princess Diana. For as long as she and Lance had been dating, she has referred to him as her own Sir Lancelot: the knight who had come to her rescue. Because of this, she decided to have a medieval theme, after which her knight would whisk her away into the sunset! So romantic!

blogImage

From her beautiful dress, to my brother having the chance to walk her down the aisle, everything went perfectly! We all dressed the part, all the way to the groom wearing an actual suit of armor! At the end of the ceremony, her minister was able to pronounce them Lady Di and Sir Lancelot, making the whole feel of the wedding come full circle.

I'm so glad that my mom was able to have her Fairy Tale wedding, and am looking forward to her Happily Ever After!!!

Happy 25th Anniversary!

By: Mercedes Sanchez

Diana and John Oldridge were married here at Chapel of the Flowers 25 years ago! Then, exactly 25 years later, they came back to Las Vegas to renew their vows.

blogImage

John let Diana plan their vow renewal ceremony. She made sure that everything was exactly as it was 25 years ago. They had their ceremony in the Victorian Chapel at 7 p.m., which was the same chapel that they got married in, and was even at the same time! Diana and John brought one of their original wedding photos, and they had it displayed in the chapel. Diana also had us customize a 25-red rose bouquet for her, and each rose represented a year of marriage. It was beautiful and such a special touch!

blogImage

Both Diana and John were very sweet, and you could tell they were still very much in love. They explained how they had been together through the bad and good times. Diana explained how she was a breast cancer survivor, and John helped her win her battle. They also shared how they split everything so that everything is equal in their relationship. They have a "family account," but then also have their separate accounts. They split every payment in two, and even discuss who will pay the bill and who will tip. It's always great to hear how different each couple is and what works best for them.

blogImage Diana and John are proof that you can stay married for years, and still be best friends! I wish them the best with the rest of their marriage.
